A small group of were hunting "put-n-take" pheasants yesterday at an Illinois DNR site (Carlyle Lake). My friend Dick was carrying his camera. Buddy, his white english setter, pointed a legal hen pheasant, and I moved in to take the shot.

The photo shows the hen flushing, and Buddy ALMOST catching it. Look closely, you'll see the bird just above Buddy's white head. I had to wait until the bird climbed clear of the dogs, before shooting. At about 25 yards it finally got high enough for a safe shot, and I took it.

As a sidenote, the shotgun is a damascus barreled Remington 1900 SxS restored by Buck Hamlin. The low-pressure load was #5 non-toxic NICE shot, ahead of #7625.

I thought you might enjoy this somewhat unusual photo.

Jerry, you may want to photoshop that picture before you display it to your friends in the local field trial club. Sorry if I offended.
