The Galazan table model that Rookhawk shows also has a tensioner for the inner anvil: pivoting brass bar with a captive spring behind. None of it's rocket science; somebody here told me back a while that we're looking for relative anomalies in the bore wall and certainly reasonable accuracy in establishing actual thickness in the chamber and just forward in the bore but not absolute accuracy to three decimal places. A-Mike employs the "Truth" gauge in a horizontal orientation; I suspend mine and manipulate the barrel set. If you look closely, you will notice that the Truth is a generic tuning fork just as is the Manson. Nothing inherently superior in the Truth that I can see except that Mike is confident in his results. So am I. Take your pick of technique and orientation; take your pick of features and prices. Repeatability AND the ability to interpret the results you're getting is everything.
