Man, those red and yellow boxes sure do take me back! I can still remember the funny "POOM" my Win Model 37 .410 makes and the neat smell of the burnt waxed paper cases. I know that plastic has its advantages, but...

How often do you see #5s 410? Why would one "Want" #5s in a .410?? I have a flat of #4, #5, and a couple flats of #6 on hand. I recently used some #4 for Kansas pheasant and earlier some #5 for some pen raised pheasant and chukar. The #4 Federal load patterns much tighter than their equivalent load of #7 1/2, from a little patterning I've seen thru a friend's CSM 21. Amazingly, The effective range for a dense enough pattern looked to be around 37-40 yrds for chukar and pheasant, from his gun. I haven't done any pattern testing of the #4 or #5 loads in my guns.

Ok, I gues I'll put them up for $50 each, with shells?? I'm a 16ga. guy, and have no use for 410 ammo.
I live in Canada and cant ship ammo, so empty boxes would be the only option, if anybody is interested in just those.

dal, your box dates in the early 1960s. There is a market for collectible cartridges in full boxes, especially when they are in nice condition like yours. A collector of Winchester boxes or .410 boxes would be okay with $50.00. That is based on my 40 years of collecting in various areas. I certainly do not claim to be an expert. Recently, I have begun acquiring boxes of shotshells. Do a search on Gunbroker or Auctionarms. There are a few guys that deal in nothing but full boxes. You might be pleasantly surprised to see what they get for some of them. Cheers!

Thanks for your advice and insight guys. They do look cool on the shelf with my small vintage leather ammo case and shell belt. It would be a neat gauge to play with if I ever won the lottery!
I'll look for a collectors forum on this side of the border, and keep the the shells and boxes together.

These sold for $18 at the most recent Ward's auction. Your box is in a bit better condition, but I don't know about $50. http://www.wardscollectibles.com/viewitem.php?item=1139 SRH

Times are tough. Prices may be soft from time to time. I still think you can get at least $30 and may get the $50 if you get the right buyer. $35-40 would be what I would have guessed. I've bought older 3" 410s than those recently for less than a few yrs ago.

Recently came across these two full boxes along with some 410 slugs, any ideas as to age? 2-1/2" 9 shot.
