The muzzles of my aforementioned chopped Trojan had no gap.

What happened to that Trojan; didn't you still have it until recently? Or do you have another shorter barreled Trojan I'm thinking of?

Ooooh Fin-first my custom 16g. "Princess of Whales" Sterly broke my heart, then I fell hard for those elegant and graceful Sweet Elsies, and somewhere on the trading/buying road, the Trojan ended up at William Larkin Moore (It really was a sweet Ks quail gun though)

The Parker has the rib matting that ends short of the muzzle. Isn't that a Parker trademark thought I imagine it could be faked.

Utah, if you look at the rib matting it does end short like on a Parker but it end of the rib looks lower then the rest of the rib like it was ground off. Also look at the end to the barrels they don't touch. It's been chopped, but the good news is he put away his torch. Eric

Looks like they are touching to me - and the rib matting looks right - though I don't know what the original is supposed to look like.

I know we all like to pick on ED-1 and rightly so in most cases. I'm not a Parker expert by any means but I do know just enough to be dangerous.

Take a look at the picture of the muzzle end. See that little space on the top rib that is blank before the matting starts. Cut barrels would not have this. Now look at the barrels them self they are almost touching each other. I dought if the barrels have been cut. I would suspect a mis-print on the length description. They don't look like they are 24" in the side view of the gun.

The blue book show's a 40% condition VH-28ga at $9000.00 value which is the current bid. I wonder where old ED set the reserve?

The blank space on the end of the rib looks like it has a bit of a shelf effect. I can't imagine who would bid $9000 knowing that the Serialization Book describes it as a 28" gun. I also can't imagine a guy trying to sell a $9000 gun without ordering a $40 PGCA letter which would possibly give some more information. Of course, no one ever accused Ed of being a Mensa candidate. By the way, some Parkers can be cut 4" or more and still have the muzzles together. I would assume the buyer, if he is not a shill, has gotten some kind of inspection privelege. One thing, once the gun is sold to the high bidder, no one can second guess the originality except the high bidder.

Eightbore, you're right on the money. The "shelf effect" is the first thing I noticed after looking at the serialization book. To me the ground-off rib is a deliberate effort by someone to cover their tracks after whacking the barrels.

Don't worry about the lack of torching, Eric. He offers "full gunsmithing services", so it can be torched for you if you want it done after you buy the gun.
