Can someone explain to me why I can shoot my SBE at sporting clays with a XXX Full (Comp n Choke) turkey choke better than I can with any of the more open factory chokes ?
Joe, given the designation of that particular choke, it obviously fits the user.
The development of choke did not really render cylinder obsolete. What it did was make a short range weapon into a slightly longer range weapon. But for most people, shooting flying remains a short range game regardless of choke, based more on the inherent difficulty of hitting a flying target rather than on the potential provided by the choke/load combination to deliver an effective pattern at greater range.
