I go to LA quite often. One of my friends out there wants to have a go at sporting clays. Where can I take her?

Are there any logistical hurdles for me as an out of state person? Something about a thumb print to buy ammo? Is that on the spot? Would I be breaking any laws by bringing a couple of shotguns into CA?

I got a real shooting lesson out there one day from an actor/ olympic shooter..famous but I cant rememember his name. Mid week midday..we were the only 2 guys there..helluva nice man!

I'm in the LA area and shoot at a couple ranges. Triple B is the largest, with many trap and skeet fields, a two man flurry field, a long range field, and sporting clays with many stations. They are located in South El Monte, about 15 minutes from LA.

Moore-n-Moore is another sporting clays range with a much smaller range, but always very interesting as it is built on the side of a hill. It is located on the north end of the San Fernando Valley, about 20-30 minutes from LA.

Oak Tree is located a bit further north, maybe another 10 minutes. They have a sporting clays range on a big hill with many trees around it, a few skeet and trap fields.

I think the thumbprint to buy ammo is only within the city of Los Angeles, and may only be for handgun ammo. Don't know for sure because I try to avoid doing any business within the city. Lots of other local places to get what I need.
