I asked him awhile back about a gun he had on auction. I was looking to cut it back to 24" and add some sights to shoot slugs.

His response "I have no guns for you to butcher like that"

He hasn't answered any other inquiries I've had since.

I don't think anyone has much to worry about. $9000 would be enough to pay for that gun even if it weren't cut yet it still hasn't made the reserve. It isn't going to sell, the bidding is about over, I assume.

The barrels on this gun are cut. The top of rib at the tip has been milled off, you can see it is below the top of matting. Also I see no keel's in between the barrels and the barrels have a gap between them. CUT CUT

Not a sin to have a set of barrels grow but it is to have them chopped from a collectors viewpoint. There use to be a set of four Parkers skeet guns, with 24" barrels, that was original. Those were sold as I understand it about 15-20 years ago for a right steep price even then. But they were factory and well documented as such. Anything that Ed has is suspect, even more if the records note 28" instead of 24". And I am not saying that Ed cut them as even he knows that a Parker is best left unscrewed up with, even if you are a master gunsmith.

After reading the description of the gun, and looking at his pictures, I also believe they were cut. Take a look at the pics of my Remington made Parker VH 28ga.

Mine has slight differences, such as the Parker overload stamp on the barrel flats and the top lever is engraved a bit different from ed's. Take a look at the muzzle on mine, for sure not milled down and for sure not cut tubes. Mine has 26" tubes, sure hope the book agrees

CM, the book does agree on your gun. Very nice! I'm envious.

As usual Ole Ed1 has the auction guns listed in GunsAmerica and sure enough there is the Parker 28 and its "original 24" barrels" for $11,100. The $100 must be his modest profit. Randy

Like I said before, the end of the rib has been milled and the barrels are cut. Looks like solder between the barrels and I can't see the keels. Eric

Sure they are cut, but even still who would pay $9 grand for that gun even if they were original?

Trust me Greg there are quite a few people that would pay $9 grand for that gun if it was original. Eric
