Hi Everyone, I have not posted for a while and am looking for a craftsman (or women) to recut the checkering on a beautiful Italian sidelock that has only fairly executed checkering. I would prefer a northeast craftsperson that I could possibly drive to I live in NJ and also central NYS. If anyone has a recommended person please let me know. Thanks, Jeff

Jeff, welcome back. Sorry, I can't help with a checkererererer.
But I'd sure like to know who was the maker of that gun. (I agree with the "beautiful" part....).
In the post-WWII period for some reason many Italian makers, even the best, didn't seem to value the craftsmanship on the woodwork nearly as much as the metalwork, IMO. That has changed since the 1970s, fortunately.

Abe Chaber in CT works with a very good checkerer.

Hi Guys
Thanks for the recommendations, I will choose one and move forward.
Mike it is a MARIO FABBRIZZIOLI Y FIGLI RIMINI a small maker making fine firearms and musical instruments. If you search the surname on this site you can see the old discussions we had about it.
I do agree the old italian guns had questionable woodwork quality.
Thanks , Jeff
