I am sort of a connoisseur of hyperbole, so I was really pleased to stumble across this gem in a listing on Guns International for a beat up Winchester Model 54 (for $2000 - the price is probably so high because it's in the ultra rare .30-06.)

The seller relates the following:

"...I purchased this firearm from a mountain cowboy in Wyoming in 1974. It has surely shot a few deer, elk and other. It is all original never have been refinished in any way. As far as condition I feel it is in excellent condition for the vintage etc. I personally took a deer at 730 yards in a 30 mph direct crosswind. I shot into the wind about 4-5 feet behind it and about 5-7 feet high. One shot one kill to the heart."

I have one of those (1928) Model 54s in the "Rare" .30 Govt. 06, if anyone is interested at that price.

Shucks...that's nuttin'.

I once shot the balls off a tick at 636 yard with a Ruger 10/22 & open sights.

It was dark out and I was blindfolded, too.

I thought 1928 was the first year of manufacture.

OWD, I thought I'd pulled off a similar shot a few years ago, but on closer inspection the Tick had tits smile

Every bullet's got to land some where.

If he really did it I propose the old saw, "Even a blind hog finds an acorn every now and then".
