So...what's the consensus on the asking price???

The taste of poor quality lingers long after the cheap price is forgotten.........

I'd say it's at least 15 grande too high without the original case and it's accoutrements....and I think a gun of this quality came with many.

Ten bore lowers the price from a twelve.

The exceptional lightness (for a ten bore) adds a little.

If those are all orignal finishes I guess seventeen thousand to twenty two thousand. The pictures are good but the finishes and condition need to be determined in hand I think.

Regardless of the value the gun is a very nice one.

Best,

Mike

That is the first Premier I have seen with the oak leaf engraving commonly seen on the Excellentia models.

Cases generally don't add any value if not original to the gun. Even then, if the accessories are not included the case still adds minimal value.

I haven't seen many 12ga Premiers of this era and style exceed $10,000 in price, with most far below that.

So IMO, that gun is significantly overpriced.

It's worth whatever someone is willing to pay. I've drooled over that gun (admiring only) ever since Amarillo Mike showed it to me. IMO the gun is priced about double what would readily move in the market.

Utah, Amrillo Mike owned a spectacular Premier Imperial with full oak leaf engraving. Gone now but it was a wonder to behold.

I believe the barrel finish is original to the gun even though it is dark. One of the posters above is correct, they often did a black and white type. Also, some finishes tend to darken over time.

The Imperial Premiers are a whole 'nother ball of wax.

That designation was not in use in the era this gun was manufactured. I have pictures of a fabulous Imperial Premier previously owned by a member here. In fact, he sold me his back action Premier (same style as the one in this thread) to finance the purchase of the Imperial. The oak leaf engraving seems to be more 'common' on the Imperial Premiers. Though that is difficult to assess since so few are extant.

In the era of this gun, full coverage oak leaf engraving is much more common on Excellentia guns.

Of course, never say never. I have a 10ga hammer Premier with full coverage scroll engraving. From the time when Scott was putting games scenes on most Premiers.

Engraving more 'typical' of Premiers in this era.

Not a very good marriage of two photos but you get the idea.

Lower grades are nice guns, too.
