The gentleman than owned that Imperial Premier knows where one of its mates it. The third, it seems was lost to history.

There is a difference in the "style" and execution of the oak leak motif found on different grades of Scott guns. Most Excellentias, even some Premiers display a oak leaf motif that is carved in the metal by graver. The type of execution shown on the very highest grades (like the g&h gun) is done with a hammer and chisel. A pretty unique technique that Mr. Brown was known for, and a technique that very few engravers in England could replicate.
Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Utah looks like they did a real nice job on your gun....the hammer screws look a lot better than the brass ones but it would've been nicer if they had gotten the hammer screws correct.

You should do some before and after restoration pictures.

Sure, Joe. Shown on p. 43 of the Scott book. Prices listed on p. 42. Ask and you shall receive. smile

Of course engraving patterns will differ, but it's not like the Premier was some sort of super secret, you need to belong to the Scott club to own one, deal. All you needed was $295 in 1884, which was quite a chunk of change for a shotgun back then.

In addition to the comments posted previously concerning price, for a modern shooter, that particular gun has quite a bit of drop.

Like I said who ever did the work for you did a nice job...in a previous post I noticed the hammer screws are way off.

Something about the checkering pattern on the forearm looks odd ?

Here's what it should look like.

Show us an example of one....only Excellentia grades I've saw and the one I owned just had a light scattering of oak leaves.

No.

I know of two, one in sad shape but available for sale and another in the collection of a member here.

Pictures of both have been posted here over the years.

You are free to find your own examples.

Notice the difference in excecution of the oak leaf motif between JoEys gun and the G&H gun. The G&H gun has a much deeper, more "chiseled"-"bolder" look to the engraving while JoEyS gun shows a more subtle, shallow style of cut to make the oak leaves.

Nice guns all the way around Gents. I remember your Scott very well Mr. Petrov :-)
