Chuck, both are beautiful examples of restored guns and guns you can be proud of and enjoy many years to come. You are right, that wood sure would look good on the XE, it would be a knock out.

Sorry Jay, the guy wants to be anonomous. He's a guy working out of his house not far from Turnbull. The Turnbull folks know him and he does use Turnbull for casehardening and some blueing work.

Here is an HE which had spent many years in a blind. Keith Kearcher changed it to straight grip and restocked, Turnbull did the color case, Keith the blue.

Go ahead and do it. I did with my early A grade from 1910 and am very happy with it. It has been in the family since new and I decided not to upgrade the wood, just bring the whole thing back. 30" barrels Full & Full. I have an un-restored 1909 A grade 30" full & full I use when the weather is crappy but I still want the Fox experience. LOL . Sorry the pics aren't the best.

Nice resto on that A canvasback. The delicate engraving of the early guns appeals to me.
