Silvers, Thanks for the help. That E grade at Cabela's has been bothering me. It was tagged as a 12 gauge, but was much smaller and lighter than the F grade 12 down the rack. The metal was decent, the butt wasn't cracked or gouged, the forearm was trashed. I probably would have grabbed it if I knew the creases in the end of the barrel were fixable. I told one of the salesmen that I would pay 1500.00 for the E grade and the F grade. He said I might get both for that price, but my phone rang. The breeder and his wife were outside the store with my new solid liver GSP pup, and I had to go. Bill

Must be getting time warp effect on my end. "Glenview"'s EE at GB appears to have five+ days to go, reserve as Jim Legg has stated, current bid 2K. Near the bottom of the list of "unfeatured" guns. Search under "lefever".

RGS: If you've got a setter and a pointer, then the E Grade's the gun for you, since there's a setter engraved on one sideplate and a pointer on the other. Happy hunting. TT

Jack; That looks just like the duck scene on right sideplate of my FE,. Has quail scene on left plate, what's your got on other side. Mine is SN 38025 which makes it about a 1901 (If in sequence). Elliot does not picture a pattern like either side of mine. I can't make out the damascus pattern on your's for sure, but mine has a chain damascus pattern, which is much more common on E grades I believe. An F is stamped on one bbl flat in a circle while the SN is on the round ahead of the flats & is followed by a small E & preceded by SB&Co. On the other bbl flat is stamped 077 which I have no idea what it is for. I have wondered if this gun may have been a late one assembled out of sequence from old stock & fit with a set of E grade bbls, but that's pure speculation.

I have to ask, regarding the EE on gunbroker, why would the owner want to sell it? To get something nicer? They don't get much nicer than that in my opinion. What an absolutely gorgeous gun. $2,999 is a lot to pay for a 12, but they aren't making Lefevers anymore, especially in that condition, and with ejectors. Wow. Drool.

Pipes, it is an FE but I think it's the more common star pattern taffy twist. Photo has too much glare. Shot it twice. Single chunk 'o dirt out of each house at station 2. Broke em both; put it away. Marklart, I'm inclined to agree that, given no major flaws, the GunBroker EE reserve doesn't seem all that wild altho I couldn't back up that opinion with cash. Stephen Cobb had an EE at Vintagers Millbrook asking price higher. Made a bit of a study of the seller's ["Glenview"] wares. Don't think feller liquidating the Columbia Exposition Crass is looking for more and better.

RGS, did you get my PM? The messages link on this site is a bit unusual, I can't tell if it was sent or not. Silvers
