Would a straight grip stock from a Nitro/Special fit on a Western Arms ,,,or are the frames different.

If it is marked Long Range it is A Western Arms. not a Western Field. Eddie, The serial number will not be under the pad. Looking at the end of the pad, do you see the two screw holes? if so, its an old pad, If you do not see the holes, its the late repro pad. Look at Researcher's pads for reference. As I and Researcher said, the wood, certainly the butt stock, are not original to the gun. That's not to say that's a bad thing. I can't make out the FE very well but, again as I said, the butt stock looks like factory and factory checkering pattern. Is the serial number stamped into the FE wood? Can you post the gun's serial number? If so, I can give you a DOM.

Also, take the gun down and see if you see a R stamped someplace.

The finish on the stock looks very fresh as does the pad. Still, this seems to be a well cared for example, even if some things are not original. I'd be proud to hunt that one.

The R means the gun was returned to the factory for some type of a repair. Usually found on the barrel hook.
