I'm in the middle of a Beretta S56E project and the wood is off for shaping/finish and I'm trying to decide if I want choke tubes or just open the barrels to .005/.015 and go with it. The bores are .625 and .627 which if my gauges are exact might make the top barrel a little too open for choke tubes. the current length of the choke is quite long so it might be doable as at 2" deep they both under .620.
Anyway...What is the advantage of the longer choke tubes that Briley uses vs the shorter thin wall True-choke like Mike Orlen uses. Obviously the price difference is substantial and I'm not sure I can convince myself the birds will know the difference.

I guess my biggest concern is because of the long chokes there will be 2" of paralel in both barrels. I'm not sure that .005 of constriction 2" back is really any different than no constriction at all. As you say, I could try it first though.

Nominal 12ga. is .729.
Your bores are typical Beretta tight. No problem tubing from a bore standpoint.
Briley can put tubes in a thinner barrel than can someone using Tru-Choke tooling.
They also have options a pre-fab system does, they can do more custom work.
There should be no difference from a pattern standpoint either way.
I don't know if your gun has chromed bores. I had one that that did (SKB) and that made the decision easy since bore and choke work looks like hell on a chrome barrel. It was pricey, but the stainless tubes are more satisfactory to me than grinding out chrome and leaving it like that.
Recessed choke (jug) will solve the long parallel problem if it's really a problem.
If it's not chromed, I'd be tempted to just go with 5 and 15 and call it a day. I can live with that.

I have a Beretta 410 sxs that I had the barrels opened to .008" and .015" I'm very happy with the results with load selection the .008" barrel shoots from 50% to 60% and the .015" shoots from 60% to 70% all I needed to do was a little pattern testing and now know what shell does what in my gun so when I use it on sporting clays I have a IC & Mod gun or Half and Full just by using different loads

I have Briley chokes in several of my Guns, both O/U competition guns and two or three side x sides. Most of mine are .010 to .015 and occasionally a .020. If it were mine I would have the chokes opened to .010 and .015 or .015 /.015 fixed as I have found that will break everything reasonable. Nominal for the 12 bore is .729

One good thing about Brileys is they can install them in a barrel set almost ruined by another company in the game. (Starts with a 'C')
