The House of Commons voted 159-130 today to kill the long-gun registry, and with government majority will have no trouble getting it through the Senate. Our American friends will be pleased to know that persistent opposition appealing to common sense without inflammatory name-calling made it happen. Lefties like me, middle-roaders and right of centre campaigned together, none distinguishing themselves as any better because of party affiliations.

Would you please explain to me and perhaps some others on this forum how you can be a "lefty" and also pro gun. You and I have had a lot of correspondence over the years public and private and we've never engaged in any sort of name calling etc. I'm stating this so whoever reads this knows that you and I have gotten on very well together while we have obvious different political philosophies.

Define "Lots". Knowing individual liberals who are pro-gun is one thing (I know a couple myself). The problem is that the majority of liberal politicians are anti-gun and that stance is a corner stone of their national party. No amount of calling people dumb SOB's is going to change that fact. That is like saying I know conservatives that are for more gun control. The individuals are the exception to where the party as a whole wants to move.

You also fall into that category..Thats not name calling it's a definition "Dumb Son of A [censored]" Categorizing people because they belong to a political party ? Dumb SOB. Thats like saying everyone who lives in Michigan is a Criminal because thats where Detroit is located...YOU define lots..thats what you "Dumb SOB's" always fall back on, Semantics..Buy your self a T Shirt. "I am a dumb son of a [censored]" Wear it proudly..Define the Majority of Liberals , why dont ya..

I have no idea what our resident "village idiot" Last dollar posts as he is on my ignore list. So I will wait for some of the more intelligent posters with different views here to respond. Perhaps we can reach an accomadation that meets all our goals.

LD, not including this post, there have been eight posts. Three are by you. In each of those posts you called another poster "a dumb SOB" or words to that effect.

Rather than celebrating the accomplishment of Canadian gun owners, which was King's intent, you have dragged the thread into the gutter.

While many individual "lefties" (like my Dad) appreciate and enjoy gun ownership and support the Second Amendment, virtually none of the liberals with political power do. One need look no further than our U.S. Supreme Court to see 4 prime examples of SADS (Second Amendment denial syndrome). And if Obama gets reelected and has the opportunity to replace just one of the 5 "righties" on the court, the Second Amendment ceases to exist. And that's not just my opinion, that's a fact. You can read the Heller vs DC decision for yourself and see quite plainly what the 4 liberal justices think of the Second Amendment in their 90 page dissent. Howard Dean, Bill Richardson, and maybe a few other liberal Dems with political power truly do support our gun rights. But sadly, not very many, and I can't understand why most of them don't. It just doesn't make any sense. And there's no need to remind me what a dumb SOB I am; I already have a wife who does that for me on a daily basis.
