Indeed and Lord Alfred Douglas was Oscar Wilde's lover. Wilde wrote about him and ended up in prison because of him. That was when he wrote the 'Ode to Reading Gaol'

Back on topic, I always thought that scalloping on the back of box locks indicated best, or certainly better, grade, due to the intricate nature of the metal to wood fit there.
