Daryl, give up on Steven. Steven, we are giving you some information on how to use a Manson gauge without hanging. Have you never learned anything about your trade by listening to "others". From your replies, apparently not.

Thanks David. Has anyone tried a digital gauge vs the dial gauge?

And Mr Eightbored since you are taking sides and write that I'm absolutely wrong might I suggest you return to my posting and read it again sometime when your head is nice and clear? Also you might ask Mr Joe Wood which Galazan gauge he is referring to, the same question you put to me. For those following this subject the wall gauge most of us associate with Galazan is the heavy bench model with a spring loaded ball on each gauge rod that contacts and maintains pressure on inner wall. Barrels rest vertically on this set up and there is no chance that operator will spring the rods apart. Them that haven't used this Galazan gauge should not be making unsubstantiated comments on it and making them sound like fact. NE

Nitro Joe Wood didn't mention Galazan or Galazan gauges. You might read his post again.
Eightbore the gauge I posted was actually made by Johnathan Pool and is desginated by him as "Truth Tool". It was made to be used in the horizontal. When my shooting student and doublegun mentor first got me hooked seven years ago we went to the Tulsa gun show and he carried a Truth Tool.
Best,
Mike

Thanks, Mike, I am familiar with the "Truth Tool". I first saw it displayed at Winter Vegas many years ago. You are correct, Joe Wood never said a word about the Galazan gauge. The Pool gauge is used exactly like the Manson gauge as the pictures show. Contrary to what Nitro Express suggests, I have used the Galazan bench mounted gauge for more than ten years. I would never take one to a gun show. I was asking about "which Galazan gauge?" because one poster suggested the Galazan gauge was more convenient to use than the Manson gauge. I assumed he was referring to a more portable gauge than the bench mounted model.

Hey, Mike. If you have trouble with your student, my friend Joe, I have a baggo ammunition and some ability as a coach myself. Unfortunately, I am in Maryland. Murphy

But thanks!

I started out using a Gady modified Mason tool. I get good repeatable measurments but it must be hanging to do so and it is limited to above 20ga. I now also use one of Dave H's tools I like it very well and it is much handier at shows and shoots.
