I am researching pre war Superposed shotguns and I am wondering about some things that I have found on a few of my guns. I do not know if they are normal for that period or not. So, I would like to know from those of you who own pre war superposed guns;
1. Does your serial # have a "P" at the end? 2. Does your top tang have "FN" engraved on it? 3. Does the "S" above the safety slide have gold in it? thank you David

Oh, Dave, do I have to get out those old junkers again? It isn't like they are valuable or anything. I just like shooting them.

I have three pre war Supers. All three are no, no, and more no.
Eightbore if those old Brownings are too much of a burden they can stay at my house. Especially if they are solid rib and two triggers. Just about to refinish a 12 with the proper number of triggers. Fun to take it to a gun club and have people tell me that Browning never made two trigger Supers.

Mine is also a double trigger. Years ago I had one with the "double single" triggers.

Dave and Jon, I have a 30" vent rib double single gun and an original solid rib 28" skeet with double singles. They are some wonderful guns. I think the 30" gun was a trap, but the stock has been shaved to field dimensions.

David, pre-war skeet #9291: no, no, no. Single trigger. Interestingly this Super has no engraving of any sort on it. Pre-war field #4449: no, no, yes. Twin single trigger. Close examination reveals U and O stamped inside triggerguard under the corresponding trigger. Surprisingly, the skeet gun has the same stamping inside the triggerguard, even though it is a single trigger gun.....And has the selector on the safety, even though both barrels are choked the same......... Grant.

Slightly off topic question. Does this also hold true for non Browning marked FN superposed guns?

Here is the info on my guns. All serial numbers have been rounded to the nearest 500. No guns have the FN marking. 1. 3700. Has gold inlaid safety. Serial number ends with "P", marked "U" and "O" inside trigger guard. The "O" is by the front trigger although it currently fires the lower barrel. This may have been changed. This is a Twin Single gun and the triggers will interchange. 2. 7400. Pigeon Grade. No Gold,has "U" and "O" on trigger guard even though this is an early style SST gun. 3. 8600. All no. Twin Single trigger gun 4 9100. Twin singl trigger, no gold. This is receiver with triggers only and I do not have trigger guard. 5. 950. Double triggers. All no. Early monobloc gun with stepped rib, engraved "Superposed" on barrel.
I had never noticed the O and U inside the trigger guard on these guns. I would really appreciate more information on what you find, particularly on the "P" serial number I asked Glen at Browning about it and he said he did not know. The gun has imp cyl/full chokes in 30" barrels and I wondered if it was for live pigeons.
