After reading a post, concerning the lack of input received on a question, I decided to step back in from the wings and offer up a suggestion. I began on this site in the mid 90's and had the great fortune of becomeing friends with a great many participants, many of whom are now remembered in the silent doubles section. We were fortunate to have some of the best minds worldwide brought together over a single love of GOOD GUNS!! This group ran the gamut from engineers to doctors to statesmen and farmers, and though some became testy at times, none felt that a question would be beneath them to answer. Perhaps the new members did not have the chance to trade ideas with some of these people or know who they were and are. We had developers of the F-14 Tomcat and other avionics and aerospace endevors, R&D personnel from many fields, journeymen in most crafts, PhD's, writers, bookstore owners and regular joe's. We all had varied education and experiance but we intigrated the information presented into a discussion that not only could be understood but used. This was an unbelevable opportunity and was used extensively by many subscribers and in addition was the basis for several articles in the DGJ and other publications. I pulled out one of the manuals I put together from this sites post(98-2000) and was once again amazed at the knowledge that had been imparted. Subjects were covered that ranged from pressure gradiant curves to barrel stress anomilies to calculating stopping power, case hardening parts to color case hardening receivers, salt, nitre and rust blueing and frosting to stock stripping, fuming and finishing all the way to moonshineing techniques(theoretical of course) with formulas, calcs, supplies and suppliers, furnished at no charge but to pay it foreward by contributing information. I developed several very close friendships with these gentlemen and miss those that have moved on, but there sage knowledge remains and it is up to us to share, teach, learn and enjoy this unique site. I am sure the same quality of people are still here and I look forward to learning from their input. Thank you Dave for the work you put in on this site, it is much appreciated and for anyone with a question (especially concerning bore rifles and close danger shooting) just ask.
Shoot safe but shoot often.
