BTW I'm sure Chris had nothing to do with that thing.

I'm not sure if this is one, but I've seen some lower grade Boswells out there that I suspect are connected to the colorful history the London (London, Ontario Canada that is) gunmaker Frank Malin. A search for the term "Malin" on this website will fill you in.

In 1988, Charles Boswell was purchased by U.S. interests and Cape Horn International (previously Cape Horn Outfitters) located in Charlotte, NC, was retained to sell and manufacture the Boswell Guns in the U.S. In addition to acquiring their entire inventory of English manufactured firearms, Charles Boswell fabricated new shotguns and double rifles in the U.S. using the best materials including English lock mechanisms and retained the Charles Boswell Co. trademark. Every gun was custom ordered to an individual client's requirements/specifications. Previously imported by Saxon Arms, Ltd., located in Clearwater, FL. (Blue Book Gun Values)

MALIN, F.E.
Previous manufacturer located in England. Previously imported by Saxon Arms, Inc. located in Clearwater, FL. Charles Boswell purchased Malin shortly before manufacture stopped. (Blue Book Gun Values)

I read all the posts on this before opening the photographs.
Oh dear! It appears to have recently refurbished metalwork, but nothing done to the woodwork.
Until we perhaps know more details it may be wise not to comment in case we embarrass someone.
It certainly does not look as though it was manufactured by an artisan.

Ain't Artistic Outrage fun? I have to laugh at myself for indulging in it over this "Boswell." It's the stock in trade of sophists everywhere!

Good thing that the members of this forum are made of sterner stuff and most often concern themselves with deeper questions of origin, condition and authenticity.

But then I have often broken off the real hunt to whack a sassy starling and this thing is just sopainfully egregious.
