But nobody can tell me how H&H "regulated" the shotguns. Did they melt the solder and adjust the bores to send the shot charge where it is going? And relay the ribs? I strongly doubt it Did they correct hard trigger pulls? Is it all smoke and mirrors? So, what did they do to the Scotts, etc, that were so stamped?

Basically it would likely involve taking the gun to the shooting ground, checking the barrels converged properly, perhaps fine bore adjusted the barrels a little to ensure patterns were even. There would have been little to do in actuality. Essentially hey were saying they had checked the gun shot as it should and would stand by it.

I see, that makes sense. A little honing. If there was a big problem. they would send the gun back to the maker?. I wore out my DVD on Holland's, have to get a new one, the part on double rifle barrel regulation was amazing, baling wire and wedges. No wonder they cost so much, works of art, they are. Just a fascinating DVD.

Diggory that was a nice little write up that I quoted. Looking forward to your next book. Jon

If they bored the choke then that was about all . They did not return guns to Webleys for the work so it must have been done in there own workshops if at all . Shot and reglated was a sales pitch . Shot guns are not regulated as double rifles. Regulating a shot gun simply, ment boring to get a specific patern at a specific distance with a specific cartridge .

Thanks KYJ,
I never realised Sporting Shooter made it west of Bristol!
I have finished my contractual requirements for 'The British Boxlock Gun & Rifle' pretty much and the publisher is now laying out the manuscript and photos into book design. The text has been edited and proof read.
Still a few little bits to iron out before it goes to the printer but we are basically there. I hope I have done the subject justice but fear I have only scratched the surface.
