I just picked up this bar in wood 1871 William Powell Hammer gun. I made contact with the current William Powell company and they gave me a wealth of information on it. This is one of the William Powell's shipped in a large order to Schoverling Daly, before Gale joined them. I guess these could be considered Charles Daly first models? Does anyone have a copy of the advertisement that was mentioned on this board a while back that featured a Powell snap lock? I would love to see it.

I also have an 1871 William Powell bar in wood hammer gun, s/n 4661. Peter Powell was kind enough to give me the history some years ago when I bought it (from William Powells). In those days they did a reproduction copy of the advertisement.

My gun is very close in serial number to yours s/n 4678. I forgot to specify, in my post, Schoverling and Daly were an American import company who went on to found the Charles Daly trade name. From what was written in the ledger my gun was shipped to them in the USA in the early 1870's along with several more. Here is the a link to the original post I am speaking of.

I thought it would be interesting to find the American Advertisement. It seems it is harder to locate than the English one.
