Beauty truly is in the eye of the beholder.
I'm very fond of the Galazan (now called 'Correct Period") Big Orange Pad (BOP). The only reason I use their 1.5" BOP so often, is that they don't make it in 2".
If you're "into" Hallowe'en, add spray paint black stripes and be the first on your block.

Some of them don't look too bad. I bought a nice little 20 bore sidelock with a well figured stock that was a fraction too short for me. Wood extension wouldn't match and the stock wood was quite light so a dark ebonite one would have looked out of place too. Luckily my Gunsmith is a hoarder of old and potentially useful stuff and he founs an older Silvers pad that had come off a restocked gun. It has just the right patina to be right with the 20 bore and was exactly the right size as well. Although I prefer to see a stock with full length wood this actually does look quite correct. That would truly be the only way a BOP could look worse. Of couse, were you to do that, it would (or should) instantly void your Doubles Ownership Permit (DOP). ;-)

If I have a BOP, can I count the square inches as part of my blaze orange?

If you don't like orange, Silvers pads come in brick red. I prefer the brick red. The Griffin and Howe Silvers repro is brick red and I have been using them since 1986 when I bought my first dozen. They no longer offer them in "discount dozens". The age very well and even look pretty good when they are new.

I'm with you on the brick red pads. They look even better as they age.

In some cases, I prefer a Silvers type pad.

But its hard to beat a proper leather covered pad.

Must be the curse O'de famed Mick writer- George Shaw- who separated the Limeys from us Colonists my means of a common language. I like the Limey term "Wanker"-- sorta recalls the old 1960's Hippie mantra here: "Up against the Wall, MISTER FOSTER"!! CHEERS, EY WOT???

That leather pad looks so much more classy. Just do not get me started on those pistol grips! 8-)

I prefer checkered butt on game guns but that isn't an option with this gun, so I'm going with leather pad. I think the existing hideous orange pad can be utilized as it is well-fitted. I find these leather pads can 'stick' a little to clothing as can almost any recoil pad. RWTF: Is 'Limey' a term of endearment or are you using it in derogatory fashion? I like to think of the English as our brethren.
