I believe one of the questions asked when filling out the form was that they could come anytime and look at the book. I didn't read about copying, but if they wanted to copy anything while there I don't see a problem.
Another exception is when and if you decide not to renew, the book gets sent to them.

My take is you signed to get the license after reading what was expected of you, if you didn't agree, you wouldn't have the license.

Would still like to hear the whole story from the license holder.
