Holy sheepsh@t - that is astonishing. The way that cat came out of the high grass and was on top of that elephant before your could blink - I hope the protocol back in the day was that you hunted with your safety off.

I would be interested to know the injury/fatality rate among Victorian tiger hunters - seeing that video, I have to imagine more than a few froze at the moment of truth.

Anyone read The Tiger: A True Story of Vengeance and Survival - awesome story about the tiger version of Jason Bourne. The first guy that got sideways with this tiger was a poacher using a 16 ga. single shot with 50-year old #6 loads - talk about bringing a knife to a gun fight!

BTW: Does anyone know if Purdey actually made the pistols they retailed?

I'm talking about the percussion officer's pistols, duellers, etc.

Thanks

They are likely to have made the earlier stuff - but once we get into the realms of revolvers, they were bought in.

Their early pistols are all you would expect from Purdey; style, quality, and innovation. Patrick Unsworth's book "The Early Purdeys" has many photos and descriptions of their target, duelling, and double flint and percussion pistols; along with complete serial number list and estimated production of each type.

Best,

Mike, I understand now. I thought it was just for show. I guess, if Prince Phillip wanted it, he would have to mortgage Sandringham.
