I know it has been asked here but I do not remember. What is the best way to antique a label for a case?

Frying pan with a thin coating of corn oil. Saute till you are happy with the color. I'm not kidding.

I've had good luck aging documents by wiping on a well-diluted tea. More coats gets it darker and you don't have to evenly apply.

Heating paper made it crisp but dark tea is a good way for paper coloring.

What your label is made of makes quite a bit of difference.

Gun oil too can be used and has the advantage of smelling right. The old Young's 303 oil, not the modern version, if you can find some; best perfume known to man. Rangoon oil too can be used. The cold tea first to give it colour then the oil. (Not leather labels of course). Lagopus.....

Lagopus +1, I have a trusted can of Youngs 303 which just reeks of eau de vintage gun and I rub it into the paper label after tea staining.

Actually I am looking for the Holland and Holland label that goes inside the case that explains about taking the locks off or any other label similar to that. Must be the 98 New Bond St. address.
I think I have found a reproduction at this time but not real sure what I may be getting since the guy was vauge in the description.
If I get this one I want to "antique"it to macth the case.
Any help would be appreciated.

Fletchedpair, that old Young's 303 smell need identifying and then bottling as I'm sure that it would sell well. Nothing smells better than an old oak and leather gun case when you first open it and that smell on Youngs comes out.
