Still working on posting a photo - read the FAQs yesterday. Doug Mann, that's a lovely piece of wood but if you would educate me, why would you say it is not appropriate for a SXS? And there is no hope of me doing any of the work; I really lack any talent beyond rubbing with a rag. SO this may NOT be the gun to put $2500-3000 into, but it's fun to think about. IF I get the hang of posting photos, I'll post a pic of the existing stock and see what the experts here think of it as it is. I'm not sure what a "refinish" implies, but that may be thought if it might make it look a little better. Thanks for all the comments and links.
