The pics are lousy but thanks for not describing them tthat way. smile I would need to get a better camera and better lighting should the need for them arise.

I strongly suspect that Gunman is correct. There is no marking of Francotte anywhere and only one small F and the numbers 211 in separate locations on the rib underside. There is one marking I didn't describe. It is Crown over a P where the P curve flows to an almost oval ending under the Crown.

Edited to add that I found this P mark in a lsiting of English proof marks. http://proofmarks.tripod.com/englishproofs.html The 13th and 14th down in the London column apprear on my gun. Note that the notation Not English Made does not appear anywhere on the weapon.

There is only one marking (the Diamond with 12 inside) from this listiong of Belgium proof marks but the same mark is also shown in the English proof marks.

Thanks guys. I will be back with more information on the manufacturer, date etc should Glascow University be able to trace the serial number.
