How is making one shot with a punt gun and killing a dozen ducks after rowing and skulling the boat all morning long against a strong tide while risking life and limb so much more wrong than sitting in a warm dry duck blind and killing a dozen ducks with their feet down over decoys with 12 shots?

Wonko you obviously know nothing about the sport of punting. A dozen or so ducks is a big shot these days. The boys that do it are just keeping history alive, slaughter doesn't even begin to come into it.

You can actually still legally sell the ducks in the UK but there are no professional gunners left. When you see ducks in the market it's ones that have been killed in driven shoots on estates.

If you punt in England or Scotland you've got to use non-toxic shot in the gun. Steel shot doesn't work with black powder so it's either bismuth or tungsten matrix for the few punters that are left. Can you imagine how much it costs to make just one shot? That's dedication and something to be admired, it's not slaughter and anybody who thinks so is an idiot.
