Buzz, I operate(d) in Wisconsin and am an Importer. I haven't imported a gun in 2-3 yrs, due to costs and market over here.In my experience the first gun in the shipment costs $800-$1000 with all the fixed costs i.e Export license UKP 30
1 gun or 20, Airport handling fee etc etc After the first gun each additional gun adds @ $200 in freight cost ( weight) and US duties (2.6%) etc.
Regarding 4 months I'd say that's pretty good, 6 weeks this end to get ATF6a approved before anything starts over there.
I've tried to point this out a couple of times but the
"cognesenti" tell me I'm full of it and it should only cost $2-300
I'd say both Price and Timing are about normal, surprising maybe but normal. If it helps ease the pain consider what you would have paid in local sales tax plus margin if you'd bought the same gun from a local dealer.
