Can anyone recommended an excellent gunsmith for fine double guns anywhere between Chicago and New York? I used Ken Eyster once but he passed away a few years ago. Would anyone recommend the subsequent firm called Heritage Gun?

Much depends on what kind of gun you have... and what needs to be done.
Nonetheless, Brad Bachelder in Grand Rapids MI is a good geographical starting point.

Yes, I should have said the work I need, which is a new main spring for a double gun. I also need a screw repaired that is slight buggered.

I'll second Brad Bachelder in Grand Rapids, Mi. and also add Del Whitman in Trvaerse City, Mi. Both are double gun experts in every sense of the word.
I've used them both and have been very happy with both.

Brad would be a great choice too. Have known him for a long time. Go to his shop often and see their work, call at least.
