Hi all, say, I'm wondering if anyone has a CG Bonehill catalog that would pin down a Grade on this one: http://www.hillrodandgun.com/picture.php?id=12641I realize that there may not be a model, but I know that a couple of my catalogs for other makers will give a grade (Best, 2d Quality etc) on a gun they made. Any help or comments would be great! Thanks so much! Greg

Horrible carving on the lovely wood though. I have never seen a nice Brit boxlock mutilated like this.

Looks like a complete re-stock by someone with unusual taste. Lagopus.....

It looks original. That is a Bonehill best quality and that's the way Bonehill's made them. But don't buy it unless you want a lot of trouble. Bonehill ejector work is junk it never works well and not many smiths can repair it. For that price you can buy a much better gun. My advice is look for an A&D with box or southgate ejectors.

Hi all and many thanks!!!! Interesting on the ejector system. I know other makes had some systems that were less than stellar, but was unaware of the Bonehill system.
So.....please tell me more.
Thanks again!

No more to tell realy. Just don't buy a Bonehill. In our shop it is one of those jobs we will not look at. We just say "sorry Sir we don't want to look at it"

Bonehill made some lovely guns and this is typical of one of there guns ,sculpted forend woods checkered panels and inlayed horn points . I have owned a couple ,but as John says the ejectors can be a night mare as was their intercepting sear arrangement .Must admitt though most of the bonehill's I have seen have been non ejectors which dose solve a lot of problems . As to the price ,your money your choice .

I am new to this site, so forgive me if i am barking up the wrong tree. I also have a bone hill i believe mine is a none ejector. It is a rabbit eared side by side. it also has engravings on on it of a bird dog in a field. It is not a Damascus how ever i can't get a date or origin on it. The closest i can come to on it is it could have been made from 1890 1902. It shoots fine it has an open bore. All the numbers match so their is no replacement parts. I don't know how to grade it and i was wondering if you can help me on it. I saw one on gunbroker almost identical to it and it was around 1200.00. I would like to know more about it so i can make a decision on whether or not to sell it. Another thing i believe it was made with the ejectors like mine was for the old paper and brass shells.
