Hi,

I just received my order of #2 shot from Ecotungsten. I would like to see if anyone has any 10 Ga BP load suggestions for waterfowl and then possibly a favorite with regular powder.

I have the Sherman Bell load sheet already. Just want to see what those on the board like and have had success with.

If it matters, I am shooting a SXS Parker underlifter 10 Ga with I think 32" barrels.

Thanks,

KC

No need for BP just keep the pressure down to about 9 K psi. and you will be fine.

Are you shooting plastic, or brass hulls?

Docbill, heh...I really like shooting BP though. I want a mix of both. Thanks for the reply.

I have Plastic hulls.

You'll have far better results loading black powder in proper brass hulls. If you want to see something really neat check these out:

http://www.trackofthewolf.com/Categories/PartDetail.aspx/139/10/SHOT-SHELL-10-2-78

I load these with 4 1/2 drams of 3F Goex, 1 1/2 oz of bismuth, and card wads in my Parker D hammer gun. I get a nice even pattern of 76% out of both barrels with this load at 40 yards.

KC,

I use Federal magnum primed 3-1/2" shells cut down to 2-7/8" for an 1885 Lefever thumb push C-grade damascus 10 gauge double. The same shells serve for my very much lighter DARNE sliding breech 10 gauge with 3-inch (76mm) chambers.

For geese and ducks I load buffered bismuth with shot charges from 1-1/8 to 1-3/8 oz although 1-1/4 seems to work fine across the board considering the weight of the Lefever. Powder is Hodgdon Longshot. Buffer is from Precision Reloading. Can pm you with wieght of charge if interested.

Regards, Tim

I also use Federal 3 1/2 primed cases cut down to 2 7/8.
I use 23 to 25 gr. Pb with 1 1/4 oz shot. The Powder varies with the weight of the gun. Great load and low pressure and clean.

Sorry for my ignorance, what is Pb? I am not an advanced loader of modern shells. Also what wadding are you using. I was contemplating the x10x from Ballistic.
