Griffin and Howe had the entire fifth floor in Abercrombie's on Madison Avenue. All of the years, now alas long ago, when I would go there, the elevator doors at the gun floor would open and there would be a full size cannon or Gatling gun pointing straight at you, about 10 or 15 feet away.

Also, the main floor was filled with high end - think Hemingway on safari - outdoor gear and clothing.

Those were the days.

Griffin and Howe's present digs - in Bernardsville, NJ - ain't too shabby either.
