Treb: Yes, Turkish walnut. I purchased the blank a few years ago from Kirby Hoyt, Vintage Doubles. Actually, it was one of his medium grades. You couldn't really tell how pretty the wood was from the rought block of wood. I have some French that I was going to use because I thought it might match the vintage (1946) year of the gun better, but Paul talked me into using the Turkish blank and now I am glad I did. I have a small block of wood that matches the stock and I'm going to save my $$ and have the forehand done by Paul as well down the road, I think.
