It never worked reliably on mine, the explanation I got was that the weight of the 20 gauge barrels wasn't enough to operate it smoothly until it was "broken in".

I have one on my 20ga RBL and like it, its worked perfectly so far. Could I live without it? Yeah.

I have it on one of my guns and don't consider it either necessary or worth the additional expense. Since I purchased this gun used, I didn't pay for the option upfront and bought the gun for far less than the original buyer paid.
It's an RBL-28 and they are definitely the best one to own. I have two and love them. The others have all gone down the road.
