Thank you for your thoughts so far.
I know french guns can be a little tricky to get a date from, but I thought
maybe some of the stamps would get me in a range or period.
For instance I wondered if the chambers being stamped 6.5 vs 65 would be a
clue? Seems like I've seen most stamped in millimeters instead of centimeters.
Also there are some very light stamps on the left tube (you can sort of make them
out on the top 2). Just above St. Etienne and R * C stamp looks like what appear
to be crescents with stars. Might these be stamps 66 and 27 from the table supplied
by Skeettx (thanks Skeettx)?
Also does anyone know if the R * C stamp is a barrel maker or gunmaker?
Any ideas as to who RC could be?
