Several months ago, I bought a Lefever H grade 12 gauge gun. When it arrived, I was giving it the once over inspection and measured the chokes. One barrel was around .745" and the other was even larger. My quick initial reaction was to think some fool reamed the chokes to over bore size. Then I noted that the wall thickness at the muzzles looked very healthy. I dropped a fired 12 ga. shell into the chamber and it rattled around. To my delight, a 2 7/8" 10 ga. shell fit perfectly. H grades were not marketed in the Lefever catalogs as having been produced in 10 ga., but here it was. This was not easy to spot because this particular gun is a light 10 ga. that is only a few thousandths wider at the breech than a heavy 12.
