Yes, Continental European caliber designations are normally by Gauge followed by the cartridge length in millimeters. A European marked .12/70 is the US designation for .12 Gauge 2 3/4".

Most commonly seen today are the Gauges .12, .20, etc. followed by either 65mm (2 1/2"), 67mm (2 5/8"), 70mm (2 3/4") and 76mm (3").

Why yours is marked differntly I cannot comment on but my 16 guage is chambered and marked 16/67 a 16 Gauge 2 5/8" cartridge.
