I also took the G&H .22-Lovell which has a Hensoldt with a post about the size of a 4x4.

First shot went way high and I ejected just the back of the case. Very old and well used G&H cases.

I have a Niedner Hornet on a small rolling block action. When I got it years ago it had the front end of a Hornet case stuck in the chamber. No matter what load I tried the case broke in two just in front of the web leaving most of the case stuck in the chamber. Since Niedner was sporadic in marking calibers I just assumed it was a Hornet. Reaming to K hornet solved the case breaking issue. With the knowledge gained from this forum I now know it might have been an R2 maybe???????????????

You can hunt deer legally in Tennessee and Pennsylvania with a Hornet. I don't know where else.

This rifle for lack of a better word is "Sensitive" Although in the last week or two I have used other names.

It likes to string them vertically and at first I thought it was the position of the forearm on the front rest. It does not do well off the barrel and the front sling swivel stops me from running the forend against the bag.

A cool 39 this morning but no wind and overcast.

This is the first group with a OAL (gauge) of 2.775". I number the target with the load No. so I can keep track of what I'm doing.

The next load No. 21 was identical to No. 20 with the bullet OAL of 2.780".

I could not see how good it was through the scope so I walked down and thought "Wow".

I wanted to learn if it was just a fluke. So I changed the number on the next target and got ready to fire another group. I set the trigger, moved the rifle around a little and checked with left forefinger to see if I had set the trigger "BANG" not the first time I have done this. I'll blame it on the excitement of seeing the other group.

Anyway, alibi out of the way I shot another five-shots. I think I'm ready to get out of the kiddy pool (50 yards) and move out to the deep end.

One thing I learned about the Niedner is the barrel is super smooth. After shooting I just use a wet patch with No.9 and it cleans right up. No copper at all I let it soak overnight and no color.
