Nick Stroebel's book lists that as "Circa 1911" which doesn't jibe well with a Model 72. He describes it as "3.5X, 14" long, with a 3/4" tube." With the #8 mountings, he says it's worth between $850-1250 in exc. cond. Just the tube is worth $550-950, according to him. It is pictured mounted on a Stevens "Ideal" single shot (can't tell if it's a 44 or a 44 1/2) in a reproduction of the Stevens 1914 catalog on page 458 of his "Old Gun Sights and Rifle Scopes" book.
I distrust "book values" for guns, scopes, or anything else, but I'd say that if that scope is in decent shape, it's worth more than the .22!
