It was really a nice shoot. Targets were unique and fun as always (they now have three trampolines to throw into and at least a couple of high scissor towers.) You can defintely understand why this venue was selected for next year's US Open. Food and hospitality were over the top great again.
Friday weather was nice, Saturday light rain at times. The threat of hurricane Sandy kept some vendors at home and some had to leave early. Same for shooters as well, though attendance seemed pretty good on Fri/Sat. Main event required shooting 75 different targets on Saturday & Sunday. I like a lot of the shooters had to miss Sunday due to weather back home. There were around 70-80 shooters in the main event. Which was pretty good considering the number of people who had to back out at the last minute or leave early due to the hurricane.
Overall, really fun. Look forward to going back next year.
I understand the shoot will move to the weekend of Sept 27 next year, which looks like it will be opposite the Vintage Cup. This year, even with the hurricane, the Fall Southern had more than twice as many main event shooters as the Vintage Cup, so it will be interesting to see which shoot the vendors choose.
