Years ago I had a gentleman in England, Rex Holbrook (sp?), make custom sights for a match type Field's Patent rifle I was having made. Does anyone know if he is still making sights? ... or contact details of any kind? Below are the sights he made for me a while back ...

... thank you ...

Joe,

That is one very nicely machined set of sights. Dare I enquire how much they were?

Harry.

Thanks for the kind words Harry ...

This rifle was built in 2001 ad I wish I had taken better notes (or any notes for that matter) when it was being built. I don't remember what I paid but I think it was in the range of $200-275 for the front sight. The front sight came from a shop in the US under the name of Joseph Cunard and he re-directed me to Rex Holbrook. ... I don't remember what I paid for the rear sight.

I saw on another webpage somewhere over the weekend that Rex Holbrook had passed away in 2011.

... even modern reproductions become collectible.

Hello Joe,

I was looking on the WWW myself for Rex Holbrook and sadly came up with the same result. Very Sadly the number of Single Shot Rifle enthusiasts and gunsmith diminish every year.

Harry
