Doug, I grew up buying shotshells by twos and threes. Within range came first. The little 20s do it all for me. I use the others out of loyalty!

Is the stock attached to the action by the traditional screw through the tang or by a through bolt?

Also, from the absence of any pins on the action, I assume they are triggerplate and not A&D actions?

They have a through bolt and they are a true trigger plate action.

Yes, they have them in 20, 16 and 12. The 16 can be hard to get but if you keep after it I am sure you can get one.

Cabela's Gun Library has several New 16's now posted.....I know Sidney, NE has one, Lehi, UT has one and Hazelwood, MO has a couple...also a single trigger 16 in Lehi and one in Rapid City......looks like four stores received two each new 16's last week and several have sold.......

The 16 I bought weighs 6 lbs. 7 ounces....wood dictates the weight variations in the same gauge guns with identical barrel lengths........

After I remove the Southgate ejector springs it should weigh 6.4 or less....about the same as my 20 ga.....

For those interested search Cabela's Gun Library under Dickinson......

From the website, looks like they're going for $14-1600. The S&W was never twice that. As I recall, originally offered mid-$2K range, but did not sell at that price. Cabela's, among others, closed them out at just a bit less than what they're selling the Dickinsons for: around $1200, if memory serves.

Any issues with trigger pulls on these guns? I field tested two of the S&W 20's. First one, a ST gun, had a godawful heavy trigger. Bruce Buck found the same thing on the one he tested. I later had a DT gun on which the triggers were fine. Rest of the gun was, as mentioned above, a nice package. Very good fit and finish for a gun in that price range.

I believe the original retail on the S&W was $2600. Until recently, the Dickinson were available, for something around $1200 I believe. But they've been slowly bumping up the prices... up to $1400 and now the newest ones are $1600 and even $1700. The prices are over the place. Guess it depends on which store you buy from.
