I am English, probably a socialist by your definition but I do object to being called a moron. And what pray, has socialism got to do with the pistol ban? It was brought in by the Conservatives.
And no, I doubt they will give him his pistol back. Although the jail term was ridiculous and the situation screamed for clemency and nothing but a stern warning, he should perhaps have known better than to keep a banned weapon and turned it over to the company armourer.
As regards earlier comments about our judiciary, our firearms law is black and white: possession of a weapon without the legal permission to possess results in a prison sentence. Period.
It may be nuts but a majority of our population voted in them that wrote the law!
