So I bought it and hope after a cleaning it will service me for years. Now I have some doubts as to the actual grade and hope you experts can help. The serial no. 211,xxx puts it in the second decade of the 20th century. All the photos I've seen of the grade 4 guns have birds on both sides. My gun has a pointer on the left side, a setter on the right, and a woodcock on the trigger guard. The engraving is an elegant fine scroll pattern. Did Ithaca vary its engraving within grade?

During 1915/16, Ithaca changed the engraving on the grade 4 from scroll and dogs to a kinda leafy pattern and birds. Yours appears to be of the earlier engraving pattern. Isn't the water table marked 4/the gauge?

Hi DT,
Mine are 28" Krupp barrels, the gun is a nice light (6lb 4oz) 12 ga game gun in pretty good shape.
