Interesting slant on things
AMERICA'S HUNTERS ---
Pretty Amazing!

The world's largest army... America 's hunters!
I had never thought about this...

A blogger added up the deer license sales in just a
handful of states and arrived at a striking conclusion:

There were over 600,000 hunters
this season in the state of Wisconsin ..
Allow me to restate that number:
600,000

Over the last several months,
Wisconsin's hunters became the eighth largest army in
the world.

More men under arms than in Iran.

More than France and Germany combined.

These men deployed to
the woods of a single American state, Wisconsin, to hunt with
firearms, and no one was killed.

That number pales in comparison to the 750,000 who hunted the woods of Pennsylvania and
Michigan's 700,000 hunters,
all of whom have now returned home safely.
Toss in a quarter million hunters
in West Virginia and it literally establishes the fact that the hunters of those four states alone
would comprise the largest army in the world.
And then add in the total number of hunters in the other 46 states.
It's millions more.

The point?

America will forever be safe
from foreign invasion with that
kind of home-grown firepower.

Hunting... it's not just a way to fill the freezer. It's a matter of national security.

***************************************
That's why all enemies,
foreign and domestic,
want to see us
disarmed.

Food for thought,
when next we consider gun control.

Overall it's true,
so if we disregard some assumptions that hunters
don't possess the same skills as soldiers, the question
would still remain...
What army of 2 million would want to face 30, 40, 50 million armed citizens???

(IF YOU AGREE, AS I DO, PASS IT ON, I FEEL GOOD THAT I HAVE AN ARMY OF MILLIONS WHO WOULD PROTECT OUR LAND AND I SURE DON'T WANT THE GOVERNMENT TAKING CONTROL OF THE POSSESSION OF FIREARMS)

For the sake of our freedom,
don't ever allow gun control
or confiscation of guns.

"For those of us that have fought for it, freedom has a flavor the protected will never taste"

Quote from above:

IMO: We will be in for the fight of our lives over our 2nd Amendment rights in the next 4 years. The occupant of the White House has already exhibited his distain for our Constitution and the Supreme Court. If all else fails I am anticipating extreme gun control thru "Executuve Edict" and an outright adoption of the UN Small Arms Treaty.
If any of you see the situation differently please post your thoughts.

About 15 years ago, that 750,000 number for Pennsylvania would have been about one million. We've lost about 1/4 of our number in that span. There are several reasons for that. Foremost would be the inane policies of our own Game Commission which has (intentionally?) mismanaged deer and small game to the extent that populations are way down. Reintroduction of the coyote has contributed greatly to this as has longer seasons, larger bag limits, and relentless shooting of does and hens. Not surprisingly, this has caused many hunting landowners to post their land in order to save a little game for themselves. All of this has caused many hunters to lose interest as they spent more hours hunting without even seeing any game to keep it interesting. This has been especially true of young hunters. I've seen and heard of quite a few kids who couldn't wait to start hunting, but lost interest after a season or two of going out in the cold and wet and not even seeing any game. Our Game Commission still claims high, even record kills, but butchers who process game tell me that their business in that area has fallen to a small fraction of what it once was. A couple lawsuits filed by sportmans groups have been tossed out because they lack "standing". Very frustrating and sad situation.

"Standing": The very same liberal B.S. That prevented those of us who know damn good and well The Kenyan is NOT an American born citizen and therefore occupying the White House illegally from forcing the courts to look into.

ISS its a good idea to get out the 50's mindset.

The next invasion is not going to be boatloads of infantry coming on shore. Some crafty bad guys with some know how and a good internet connection can bring this country to its knees by attacking our financial and power/energy infrastructure on the net. Its all run by computer. Take that out and watch us wallow in confusion and misery. We wont be able to move goods, get gas or buy food via credit/debit and what not. The plastic will be useless and even more so meaningless if the electronic system goes down. This has has been a national security concern for some time but no will power to tackle it.

Also, I wouldn't trust hunters for shit to be capable of soldiering. Especially the ones that cant figure our that a 4 foot skunk is their cousin in a halloween costume.

The threat of cyber warfare is a problem, but you just re-elected a president who can't even admit that Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, the Ft. Hood shooter, was a terrorist, or even use the word terrorism for that matter. The Muslim Major shouted "Allah Ahkbar" as he shot our soldiers, but that wasn't even enough for Obama to use that nasty "T" word. He also hid the terrorist threat at the Consulate in Libya and he got 4 Americans killed and sodomized as a result. This will all really hit home when your welfare and foodstamp cards and your Obamaphone all quit working. Hopefully your mom put up some Mason jars of food to feed you if this occurs.

We know you wouldn't trust hunters for shit to be capable of soldiering because it is increasingly apparent that you are not a hunter, but rather a troll on a shotgun website who pretends to be a gun guy, and who actually supports anti-gun policy and anti-gun politicians.

Jim, here's some spice for the conversation:

The only hunters and tribesmen who ever repulsed an invasion were the Taliban who proved the limits of the greatest panoply of firepower the world has ever seen. Your and our fighters are coming home.

What goes around comes around. Fifty years ago I covered the left Weathermen fighting their own government with bombs in Washington and the right to repel Red paratroops selling bazookas and M1 rifles in Missouri and Utah. Fear.

Dollars prostrated the Soviet Union, not guns. Governments are usually defeated from within. The US leads in cyber firepower. It will be the only superpower for the forseeable future. It has friends. Fear not.

This one's easy King. Are you forgetting that little skirmish several hundred miles south of you around 1776, where a poorly trained and poorly equipped, hastily assembled army of colonist farmers, merchants, and craftsmen humbled the strongest army and navy the world had ever known? Although they certainly had some help and leadership, it's generally acknowledged that the shooting skills they acquired as hunters, and the type of firearms they had developed were a key factor in their ability to beat the Brithish and win independance from the Crown.

In the case of the Taliban, we know that neither the Soviet Union nor the United States utilized all of their firepower. If they had, Afghanistan would be a molten glass parking lot and the Taliban would be glowing cinders.

Unfortunately, they have learned that for various reasons, we choose to fight with one or more arms tied behind our backs. We did that in Viet Nam and eventually gave up. We had Iraq beaten and bloodied in 1991. Shock and Awe was devastating, but as footage of the Highway of Death rolled in, the world reeled and we took our foot off of the neck of the snake. Of course, the snake then came back to bite again. We were concerned about what the Arab world might think. Truth is, they've hated us since the Crusades. But at least they feared and respected us. No more. Even less since Obama became president. And the Taliban and Al Qaeda will come back to bite again once Obama's timetable for withdrawal is met. Next time, with help from North Korea or Iran, they might use nukes instead of airplanes.

If the Allies had fought WW II the way we wage war today, the official flag of the European Union would be a swastika and the Asian Pacific region would be ruled by the Emperor of Japan.

Given that this is not just some random example, but the real life tragedy affecting the life of a little girl and her family, which includes a member on this site, your use of it here in this context is disgusting. If it were up to me you would be permanently banned.

While I can agree to disagree with many people, thoughful and engaging despite their misguided views, you, nca225, are scum.

That was then and we're now, keith. Two hundred years ago, Madison had a screwy idea of invading Canada with abysmal military leadership and was thrown back across the border. Imagine that today! You acknowledge the limits of military power today, justified or otherwise. Lemay's pleas to nuke the Vietnamese were for naught and in Korea before that half a century ago. What we do now is declare victory and go home, and our adversaries know it.
