All interest groupings have an agenda, Jim. Today's Connecticut massacre will produce a bewildering range of outrage, becoming the yes-buts and no-buts of the unending debate of blame around gun ownership.
Your agenda is advertised on each message. As a libertarian, I have no problem with agendas. Nor do I categorize protagonists of causes around democratic principles as one side being superior to the other.
The US is a violent society. It's what Americans have chosen, consciously and deliberately, and voted for in their legislatures as the will of the people. As a liberal I voted and worked with citizens to rid us of the long-gun registry.
That was one of my agendas. Neither right or left, in my opinion. As many to the right joined the left because it was seen as wasteful and ascribing criminality to responsible Canadians. So my last word on agendas, promise.
The criminals seem to have excessive rights of privacy in the Great White north...so much so many don't even know things that happened in their own town because its illegal in most cases to even publicly report on crimes, rapes and murders that occur up your way, because the criminals right to privacy would be violated. Most of the Canadian public is blissfully unaware of many crimes that are unreported do to gag orders by the courts. I also know Canada is not NEARLY as crime free as they want people to think...and I know this from Canadians that told me.
The liberals are asking us to give Obama time.
We agree, and think 25 to life would be Appropriate.

As far as I'm concerned the focus on the mentally ill is an entirely legit concern. Anyone with a history, ANY history of a mental illness or a defect should face an out right ban. One way would be to track who is prescribed any medication for mental health purposes in national data base. Also people who have in their immediate family should not have firearms as well unless there is a way to assure there is no access to them.

Why should a law abiding citizen not have access to firearms just because a family member is a nutcase? Sorry but you are infringing on their right to possess. Could it be that the R's in congress on orders from the NRA systematically underfund the programs that would accomplish these goals or take the teeth out of legislation drafted to address the issue?

Bull freaking shit... They AREN'T locked up in Insane asylums because the lefties and the communists decided their right to run loose exceded the right of the Public to be safe from them.
