In early 1895 Crescent introduced its first hammerless double, the Triumph Hammerless, made in 12 gauge with either 30" or 32" Damascus-Twist barrels. The gun was based on patents issued to William Beesley and controlled by Charles Lancaster and was the only boxlock hammerless double ever made by Crescent.

They were made on order for Sears Roebuck & Co. and probably less than 750 were manufactured. It was listed in the 1897 Sears catalog for $27.50

The gun was dropped from the Crescent line in 1898 and Crescent would not produce another hammerless double until 1904 when the sidelock Model 6 was introduced.

Hi Thanks for the information. I have one with twist barrels 30in. Serial number 230. With excellent bores. F & F. It looks just like the one in the picture.

Damascus Twist is a One Iron Crolle-Twist laminate; also called London or Baker "Best London Damascus Twist" and also found on LC Smith Maker Baker, H grade Lefever, and Baker Gun & Forging guns

Drew;
A question on this "Iron". In all the old listings, catalogs etc, I have seen on guns using this type of bbl I do not recall ever seeing the term Damascus used, only Twist, London Twist or Best London Twist. Also I believe the P grade Parker used a similar pattern & again was referred to as twist.
I was of the opinion the iron/steel mix in these bbls were Not twisted in the bar prior to wrapping which would be the case in Damasus twist or One-iron Crolle.
My real question though, when you used the term "One Iron Crolle-Twist laminate" are you saying it is really made from two irons, one twisted in the bar & one not? From its apearance this would seem to be a distinct possibility.

You are correct Miller. A P toplever hammer gun refinished by Brad Bachelder.

The Parker Lifter era and toplever catalogs only listed 'English Twist' and (later) 'Fine English Twist' (Belgian sourced) but ribs were marked 'Stub Twist', 'Plain Twist', and 'Twist'. Damascus-twist is rarely seen.

I am of the opinion (worth nothing) that Lifter twist and damascus WAS sourced in England and the stock used up after the toplever hammergun was introduced, which used Belgian rough forged tubes.

A pre-1874 Back Action Lifter with '3 Stripe' damascus and Birmingham Provisional Proof

I'll probably start another thread about Damascus-Twist

When I seen the term Damascus - Twist on the Crescent, I was thinking there was 2 models, a Damascus model and a Twist model. There is just a twist model then.
